I hope you’ve all had a wonderful start to 2016 and a lovely festive break. As has become a bit of a tradition, I wanted to start this year off on the blog with a round up of my favourite outfits from the last year. As I always say, this has proved to be a great tool in helping me develop my style by looking back over what I particularly liked, what didn’t work as well as I thought it did when I threw it on and what I just flat out didn’t like as well.
Looking back over this year, I think I have mostly focused on further refining my style and I’m pleasantly surprised by how many pieces have featured in almost all of the years I’ve done these. I’m a big believer in buying forever pieces, and it’s nice to see old favourites consistently reappearing each year. Comparing this to the first year or two, there is definitely not as dramatic of a development between this year and the last, but I think that’s a good thing as it shows I’m really starting to feel much more comfortable in my choices and look, it’s becoming a lot more consistent. There has been a little experimenting too though, I particularly loved the metallic pieces I wore this year, including that spotty skirt, and 2015 has definitely been the year of faux fur. I’ve acquired quite a few pieces that I’ve worn to death over the year and I totally blame my fave The Style Rawr girls for getting me hooked!
Another thing I’m obviously still hooked on is headwear, which is still going strong with a few new additions plus all my old favourites getting heaps of wear too. I also pretty much lived in my ASH and Kurt Geiger lace up boots, and I really need to finally get my Rick Owens sandals re-soled so I can start wearing them again, they’ve been out of action since the summer!
You can see the past few years round ups here – 2014, 2013 and 2012. Do you guys have any favourites?
