Catarzi Fedora / Paper Dolls Mesh Panel Dress * / Topshop x Todd Lynn Tux Jacket / Topshop Belt / Rick Owens Wedges / Balenciaga City
No, it hasn’t suddenly, magically become warm enough to wander around town without a jacket on but it seemed a shame to cover up the most interesting part of this dress from Paper Dolls & so I braved the cold for a few moments to get some shots. Do excuse my even more awkward than usual face & stance here though, over the course of this blog I’ve become much less self conscious having my photos taken in public places, but as you can imagine standing in a busy shopping center in the middle of freezing January without any layers or a jacket drew quite a few more stares than I’m used to, plus some glares & whispers too!
This was one of those days where I just needed to get stuff done, errands to run and a pile of work to get finished once I got home & there’s nothing like a nice fitted dress for that, it makes you feel instantly put together & like you mean business. The mesh panel at the top with it’s t-shirt shape lends this one a slightly more casual look though, stopping it from being too formal & boring. It’s funny how what I choose to wear that day can totally affect how productive I am. The temptation to sit & work in my PJ’s all day is sometimes too much to resist, but I know when I do I’ll get virtually nothing accomplished. I always feel more ready to tackle the day & get things done when I’ve got properly dressed, even if I won’t be leaving the house or seeing anyone else.

This is one of my fave outfits of yours, that dress is just stunning! I love anything with a bit of sheer detail. I get what you mean, it definitely looks like it means business…not a dress to lounge about in. I love how you’ve made it daytime appropriate though. Also, good on you for being brave enough to take photos in public places, I bet they were all saying how amazing you look! xxx

Definitely agree, you look very pulled together. I love the sheer sleeves on the dress. Adds a bit of interest to an otherwise simple piece. xx

I love that mesh panel at the top, looks so amazing (I’ve been loving mesh in general lately). Oh and I can imagine how people must’ve reacted when they saw you taking pictures over there!

The dress is super nice! I agree the top part is definitely the most interesting part- so cool and unique!
hahah, I know what you mean about the process of taking the outfit pictures! A little over a week ago, I was posing for my outfit pictures (on the street, without my coat on, I should mention it was approximately -7C) and there was a group of children passing by ( a class excursion or something) & they stopped right next to me, pointed with fingers on me as I was zoo animal or something! :D

You look incredibly stunning, and I agree about, getting properly dressed up, as I work a lot remotely, I tend to get much done when I get dresses. I know what you mean about grabbing a few good shots, as people stroll by all too well, haha. I think I’ve become not as affected by it now, before I would never take photos in public spaces. Gorgeous outfit! /Madison :-)

i love the detail! thanks for braving the cold haha, would be a shame to keep that under wraps though the belt adds an interesting texture to the outfit too. i definitely get more work done when i’m dressed up – though some days i still wear my PJs to the cornerstore (with a hat so no one can see me) ;))

Sooo pretty, I love the mesh detail! I totally agree with dressing differently to be more productive, it’s weird how our brains work. If anyone was staring or whispering it’s because you looked so freakin’ awesome. Obvio!

You look divine Steph, let them stare, they’re only jealous! I love the mesh detailing on the top of this dress, especially the t-shirt shape. It makes it so much more wearable, and I always prefer a sleeve even if it’s a short one. I agree with you on getting more accomplished if you’ve gotten ‘ready’. Getting dressed and putting on make-up, doing my hair etc always makes me feel more put together. Those PJ days are lovely when needed, but definitely don’t involve much working or getting things done. xxx

Hehehe go you! I can’t stand those stares hence why I never post anything on mine. Plus I don’t have anyone to take my photos so it’s even worse when you’re contemplating standing there with a tripod or iPhone! That dress is lovely, the sheer sleeves add an edgy element to an all black statement.
