When it comes to boots, AllSaints is pretty hard to beat. Each season they have so many pairs I’d love to get my hands on, and their latest collection ‘Below The Knee’ is no exception either. Handcrafted from Italian leather, they are all classic, hardworking styles, beautifully constructed & made to last too. My personal favourites would be the Keiko chelsea boots, they’re basic enough to go with everything you own & yet with that angular shape, the chunky heels & wonderful textured leather they still make quite an impact. I love the Jules & Jonas styles for similar reasons too, and I wish I could walk in pencil thin stilettos because I’d be buying the python Kara heels in a heartbeat if I could!

AllSaints have also released a film to coincide with the launch of the collection. Shot on location in New York City, the film features women from the cities fetish scene captured from ‘below the knee’ with a little narration from each of them on their expectations & experiences in the city. I love the concept of this, and the way it’s been filmed too, in grungy black & white. The whole vibe you get from it fits in so perfectly with the collection & the AllSaints aesthetic as a whole.

FAIIINT Faux Fur Snood / FAIIINT Cotton Maxi Skirt

On Friday FAIIINT turned 2 years old, it feels so strange writing that as I still feel like I’m so new to this! The past 2 years have been incredible – I’ve worked with some of my favourite brands, with people I’ve looked upto for the longest time, met so many lovely fellow bloggers, made new friends from all over the world, attended some awesome parties & been offered so many amazing opportunities, all purely thanks to this little blog. It’s quite surreal.

As a huge thankyou to all of you for reading over the past few years & your support, I’m having a birthday giveaway! I’ve been talking a lot about basics in my posts recently, those items every girl should own & so I thought I’d like to giveaway 2 pieces I consider to be absolute staples in my wardrobe, that I wouldn’t be without…

The first is a good maxi skirt, I made this one for myself a few weeks ago as I couldn’t find exactly what I had in mind elsewhere. The thin cotton lawn fabric & raw hem keep it casual, whilst the full gathered shape adds a little drama, especially when it billows out in the wind & I have been wearing it to death since I made it. Plus, it’s the perfect length too, I hate when I ruin maxis because they drag on the floor & get tatty within weeks. The second is of course, the fur snood. I posted a photo of one I made for a friend on Instagram a few weeks ago & you guys went nuts asking where to buy them, so I thought it’d be a good 2nd item to include!

 

The Prize…

One winner will get –

1 custom maxi skirt. Made from fine 100% cotton lawn, it has a side zipper & raw hem. I will make one up custom, to the winners size & measurements to ensure a perfect fit & length.

1 faux fur snood. Made from super luxury faux fur, it looks & feels incredibly realistic & is also lined in slinky satin for comfort. The winner can choose from black, brown or burgundy.

I’m developing quite the collection of ‘alien’ inspired pieces lately, leggings especially, but I couldn’t resist adding this killer pair from Evil Twin to the collection too, with their glossy, xenomorph-like ribbed panels. You all know by now that I’m a huge sci-fi nerd & I can never resist items of clothing that remind me in a subtle way of my favourite movies, games or characters. Alien is easily one of my all time favourites, combining my love of horror, sci-fi, a kickass heroine & the incredible art of HR Giger too. Plus, I mean, what girl wouldn’t want to be Ripley?! I think I may have been subconsciously channeling her a little bit here, with the biker jacket & stompy boots. Perfect Halloween non-costume I think!

I feel like I shouldn’t say this, as no doubt I will be moaning about the weather again very soon, but I’m secretly quite glad it’s turned bitterly cold. It means I can dig out some of my favourite pieces, the big coats & heavy sweaters, and of course the best winter accessory – the (faux) fur snood. I’ve been making myself a few in different colours this past week, and I’m not sure why I didn’t make a black one sooner! Kind of a duh moment there… I have a feeling this isn’t going to be leaving my neck for quite sometime!

Also, today is actually FAIIINT’s 2nd birthday! Crazy to think I have been doing this for two years now, it feels like less than one! There shall be a nice giveaway on Monday to celebrate properly, so keep an eye out for that!
