On Monday we were invited down to The Ivy Club for the launch of Giles Deacon’s ‘Libertine’ jewellery range in collaboration with QVC. The venue was beautiful, with pieces from the collection arranged around the room draped inside birdcages sprinkled with gold flakes & Swarovski crystals. I loved this way of presenting the pieces, it made it feel as though you were peering into cages containing precious treasures, despite the fact that everything was under £50.
The rose stem hoops & the beetle bracelet were my favourites, I haven’t been able to get the hoops out of my mind since, I’m imagining them worn simply on their own with one of my draped dresses, clean & unfussy. It’s no surprise the simpler pieces stuck out to me though, as I’ve been finding myself suddenly craving more minimalistic jewellery after years of buying big statement pieces & piling it on.
Giles was also the perfect host, walking around chatting to guests about the collection & posing for photos. I wish I had been a bit braver & gone over, but I am always far too shy at these kind of things, I can barely mingle with other guests without feeling anxious, let alone a designer whos work I have long admired.
We didn’t think to take any outfit shots until after it had started to get dark, I always seem to do this when I go to events, I’m just too forgetful & so unorganized! The front of this shift from ASOS is actually the most beautiful bronze/black metallic faux fur & I feel like this shot really doesn’t do it justice at all. I think I’m going to try to re-shoot this as a full outfit post for Monday so you can all get a better look, as it’s one of my favourite recent buys. You all know how much I love a nice texture!

the hoops are really beautiful, i can see why you love them and i love how they’re presented too. so nice that everything is under 50 quid, even though they really don’t look it. And it’s nice to go to a jewellery launch where you can actually afford to shop at, ahha. I remember going to a Bulgari event a few years ago… anyway I love the bronze texture too, it seems to be picking up some pink from the dusk light and looks really pretty ;)

What a glamorous event to be invited to – sounds like a lovely evening! I too love the way the pieces are presented – the birdcages are a fabulous idea. The hoops are gorgeous – will definitely keep my eye out for these gorgeous pieces. I love the fact that it’s all under £50 – so that everyone could afford something :) xxx

Steph, let me start by saying that the belt you are wearing in this outfit is simly stunning! I didn’t know about this Giles collaboration: so many beautiful pieces and I think that they would look great on your all-black ensembles! Caterina

I know what you mean. I often feel so intimidated at these events that I hide in one corner, make some small talk and run out. I love the dress and that belt really ramped it up.
