Sea World is another of the parks I enjoyed the most. Since I was small, I’ve loved the ocean & to swim, I’m like a fish out of water & it also houses some of my favourite animals, so it was obvious I was going to love our day here. We managed to catch two of the shows ‘One Ocean’ the Shamu / killer whale one, which was really beautiful & also the ‘Blue Horizons’ one with dolphins, birds & acrobatics, it was a real spectacle & a lot of fun. We spent the rest of the day seeing all of the amazing animals & doing the few rides that Sea World has.
My favourite ride was ‘Manta’, as your lying with your face to the ground instead of sitting, it really feels as though you’re soaring through the air like a manta does through the water, such a great idea & one of the most fun roller coasters I’ve been on in a long time. I also really enjoyed the ‘Wild Arctic’ ride, a helicopter simulator which takes you on a journey across the arctic, seeing the sights & animals that inhabit it. Of course, being a ride though, it ends badly with the helicopter falling down gorges & dodging chunks of falling ice, really good fun & possibly the best simulator ride we did! After the ride you then emerge at the ‘Wild Arctic’ base camp, where there are beluga whales, walruses & one very lazy polar bear!
Even though we did this day after Discovery Cove where we got to get really up close with the dolphins, it didn’t stop us spending a rather large amount of time watching the baby dolphins in the ‘Dolphin Nursery’ & the adults too at ‘Dolphin Cove’ where you can lean across & stroke them, they’re all very playful & seem to love getting a tickle & also squirting water at everyone, I guess the signs don’t say ’24 hour splash zone’ for nothing!
The rest of our day was spent wandering around the huge indoor aquariums Sea World is famous for, I really could have spent the entire day in there. The massive shark tunnel was a highlight, the photos really don’t do it justice, but there were some monsters in there! I noticed a few posters around advertising a cage dive with the sharks, I was super gutted I only found this out on the day as it’s something I’ve always wanted to do! The largest aquarium which houses many different tanks was also a favourite, so many beautiful animals & the section with the manta rays was amazing. There is little area where the glass tank extends from the wall right over the ceiling & it’s breathtaking watching the rays soar above your head, almost as though they’re flying!

Oh wow this looks so amazing! Makes the London Aquarium look a bit crap now haha. I’ve never really been that bothered about Florida before but these posts really make me want to visit! And I’ve just spent a good 10 minutes googling that Dali museum, I want to go so badly now! And so with you, animals over kids all day. xxx

Aw, that’s such a nice compliment, glad the photos could do the place justice! I think it’s one of those places that everyone should do at least once if they can! :)
Oh, if you ever get the chance, seriously go! It’s absolutely mental there & there’s so many awesome things to check out, some of the displays & rooms are a real mind trip & I’ve never been anywhere else like that before or since! Figueres is such a beautiful town too, with it’s ancient castles & churches…

Ooh, love the underwater pics. We have a Sea World here too, but it’s up at the Gold Coast. I haven’t been since I was very little. In Sydney we have an aquarium with a shark tunnel, and I’m always really freaked out by the sharks getting up close. Loved the dolphin pics especially, they are such beautiful creatures!
FAIIINT says
I know what you mean, there were some huge ones in that tunnel, pretty unsettling seeing them so close to your own face! Eeek! I do think they’re amazing though, to think they were one of the top predators millions of years before we were even here & still are today definitely deserves some respect! ;)

The picture of you in the Shark tunnel is so pretty! I love Seaworld, seeing Shamu’s show was my favourite part when I visited a few years ago. Lovely photos! x

WOW. Such great photos, love every single one. I love dolphins so much and so jealous that you’ve seen killer whales in person.

Beautiful shots!
I loved going to places like this as a kid but haven’t been to any in a long time…I think I might need to go back after seeing your pictures!

Once again, the pictures of this visit are absolutely stunning and I completely agree with Jenny that your photo in the tunnel is beautiful. However, I have to confess that I’m not sure I could visit this park because one of the things that scares me the most are sharks…I know i sounds stupid but I don’t like swimming, not even in the swimming pool, because I always have this subtle fear for which I completely blame Mr. Spielberg!
FAIIINT says
Hehe! It doesn’t sound stupid, my gran is exactly the same, ever since watching Jaws she can’t bring herself to go any deeper than her knees in the ocean! I must admit, it is always at the back of my mind when I go swimming in the ocean, but I just love swimming & exploring the reefs too much to let it bother me, though my greatest fear is drowning… go figure!

I have fond memories of sea world. Seeing these photos brought back memories of my trip when I was barely 11 to the US and gasping in wonder as the dolphins jumped up in the air.

So…are there penguins there? Hahah, I just focus too much on those creatures. Anyways, wow, those rays look amazing, and heehee, lazy polar bear! I really like it when they seem to encase you with the water – it feels like you’re submerged and makes it that much more authentic. :)
FAIIINT says
No, there wasn’t… They are building a huge ‘Antarctica’ section at the moment & so all the penguins are elsewhere until its finished. I was pretty gutted I didn’t get to see any if I’m honest! :(
