FAIIINT Draped Leather Jacket / ASOS Maxi Dress / Topshop Wedges / Topshop Studded Belt / ASOS Leather Snake Bangle
I hate to do the stereotypical British thing & moan about the weather, but seriously, it’s June & I’m wearing a heavy maxi dress & a leather jacket & still feeling like I’d happily wrap up even more! I decided to use the opportunity to get a few more wears out of the draped leather jacket I made last year, I’m sure most of you have already seen the previous post about it & me professing my love for this ‘tester’ – here. I think it’ll be one of those things I keep & wear forever, despite it being my first attempt & knowing that it is far from perfect, I just love it regardless. I really do need to get making a few more for Autumn though, I still really want to do a nude version, but still haven’t found that perfect nude leather I’ve been searching for to use for it…
I’ve also fallen in love with orange again, I just love the way it looks paired with black, so I had to dig out this old ASOS bangle. I have a feeling it’ll be getting a lot more wear again soon, it adds such a nice pop of colour to my usual all black outfits. I’ve even been a little tempted by a bright orange maxi dress, anyone who knows me will know how unusual this is for me, but I really just can’t get enough of it, I wonder if because the weathers rubbish I’m subconsciously trying to make myself feel a bit more summery…
Also, if you missed it in the previous post, check out the little interview I did with Creative Fluff Magazine!

You look stunning and what a great jacket.

I’m seriously impressed! It’s always a nice feeling to wear/use something you’ve made yourself even if not perfect, I can relate.
To answer your nail polish marbling question, I haven’t had any peeling yet but the smoother/softer the leather the better it adheres. A thick layer might crack but it seems not to peel.

i really like the jacket too. whatever imperfections you mentioned in the other post definitely does not show when you have it on! also, that belt is really nice – i’ve been looking for something similar for ages!
ps – enjoyed the interview! it’s always hard going freelance but “just do it!” is exactly what i would have said too :)

Can’t believe you made that jacket! It’s GORGEOUS.
You know, I don’t think I would mind the wedding showers/baby showers so much if the other people didn’t give me a pitying look for not being married/pregnant/want to be pregnant/envious of the pregnant woman or bride. I’m honestly happy for my friends when they decide to make these life decisions, but I wish they would be happy that choosing NOT to do these things is a life choice that I’m making – one that doesn’t need pitying looks or a gazillion questions.

Thank you! :)
& I couldn’t agree more! I don’t understand how even in this day & age it’s so wrong to not want those things & you’re seen as abnormal for making that decision. I’m happy as I am, what’s so wrong with that?! I find the worst are the people who say “You say that now, but one day!” with a smug look on their faces… Urgh! Haha!

wow, the jacket is extraordinary!! congrats!

Well of course I remember this jacket! I am still so impressed on how you draped the leather! What type of leather is it? I have only worked with leather a couple of times and really want to experiment more for fall!

Thank you! :) It’s pig skin suede, the suede is the ‘right’ side of it, but I liked the distressed look of the imperfect ‘wrong’ leather side, so used it that side out. The suede is usually slightly thinner & more drapey than pig skin leather too, but all pig skin is very supple & easily draped. You definitely should, just make sure you buy leather needles for your machine & have some talc spare if it doesn’t glide through the machine easily.

Aww, that is such a lovely compliment! I don’t have the time to currently, but I would never rule it out completely, maybe one day! :)

I get what you mean about the weather – we didn’t have a summer here in New Zealand over christmas, it was awful! Probably one of the reasons I am escaping winter to Europe to get some sun!
Cannot believe that you made that jacket – the construction is amazing!

I can’t believe you did that jacket! Do you sell your stuff? It works perfect with the maxi dress. Looking so fashion forward. Moaning about the weather is such a boring thing to do, can’t help it it’s June and it’s like this! :)
FAIIINT says
Thank you! No, I don’t sell them, I think it kinda takes the fun out of these things when it becomes something you ‘have’ to do, if you know what I mean? I’m considering doing a giveaway with a custom piece of clothing in the future though, as a sort of one off, as lots of people have asked! :)

wow i am really glad i stumbled upon your blog. i am following you now. you have a lovely fashion sense and i am loving your blog – looked through a few past posts as well. i really love that jacket so much. is it typical to moan about the weather if you are british? you know i actually think i have heard that before. i am always moaning about the weather as well – berlin has surprisingly similar weather to london i do think. we usually have sun from only 8-11 in the morning then overcast and many times rain. it has been so chilly here too. i have been longing for a day where i can just go out with shorts and a t shirt no problem, but it looks as though next week is supposed to warm up! i will be sure to check out your interview as well. i would love if you stop by my blog too and follow back. always lovely to find bloggers i can be inspired by.
